Rick “Ed” Ashley age 61 of Parker, KS died Sunday April 21, 2019 at his home.
Ed was born July 6, 1957 in Lepanto, AR. He was the fourth of seven children born to ML & Ina Marie (Crabtree) Ashley. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas where he attended school in Armordale.
On August 31, 1979, Ed and Tanya Ritch were united in marriage in Paola, KS. Together the couple had two sons David and Allen.
Ed painted cars for 30 years in Olathe, KS. Then he decided to change professions. In the early 2000’s, Ed attended Fort Scott Community College Truck Driving school. He then went to work for New Life Trucking Company out of Princeton, KS. Then in 2017, Ed retired.
In his spare time, Ed loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and boating. He planted lots of tomatoes in his garden. He worked on cars and piddled in his garage. Ed’s family was everything to him. He was everyone’s favorite uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Tom Ashley and two sisters Marilyn Lorenzo and Delana Hughes.
Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years Tanya of the home, sons David and Allen Ashley of Parker, KS. Sisters Carol (Ken) Lucas of Rantoul, KS, Gail Fultz of Gardner, KS and Doris (Bryan) Smith of Haskell, AR. Two fur-grandchildren Cooper and Kane. Along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
