Rickey Ray Giles Sr age 69 of Pleasanton, KS died Thursday October 8, 2020 at Medical Lodge of Fort Scott.
Rickey was born March 30, 1951 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was one of four children born to Raymond Edward and Grace Lucille (Wise) Giles. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1969.
In 1970, Rickey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While in the service, Rickey received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Combat Action Ribbon and the Purple Heart Medal. On January 21, 1972, Rickey was honorable discharged.
Rickey was a long time employee of True Value. He then went to work in construction. Rickey travelled all over for companies operating machinery. In his free time, Rickey loved fishing, riding motorcycles, listening to classic rock and collecting guns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie Giles and his sister Carol Giles.
Survivors include children; Rachael Giles (Frederick Lopez) of Osawatomie, Shana Gorsic (Dustin) of Lane, KS, Crystal Franks (Josh) of Tulsa, OK, Kerri Giles-Vine of Osawatomie, Rickey Giles Jr (Tiffany) of Paola, KS, Brandon Giles (Jennifer) of Elk City, KS and Pattie McSpadden of Edgerton, KS. His brother Thomas Giles (Deanna) of Lynn, KS, Aunt Virgina Martin of Fort Scott, step children Jeannie Bruner of Independence, KS, Ray Peterson of Olathe, KS and Wendy Peterson of Darrington, WA. Along with 28 biological grandchildren, other family and friends.
