Rita Faye Hayden age 90 of Butler, MO died Tuesday August 1, 2023 at Medicalodge of Butler, where she lived the last 10 years.
Rita was born October 19, 1932 in Kansas City, MO. She was the youngest of eight children born to Joseph Alexander and Minnie Ethel (Morrow) Cortner. Rita grew up in Osawatomie where she attended school. Graduating with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1950.
On September 5, 1950, Rita and Allen Eugene Hayden were united in marriage in Bentonville, Arkansas. Together they had four children; Jeff, Cathy, Mark and Elaine. Rita loved her children and grandchildren very much. The family made their home in various places such as Topeka, KS, Osawatomie, KS, Liberty, MO, Butler, MO, Joplin, MO, and Enid, OK.
Rita was a bookkeeper by trade. She worked at KCP&L, Parish Chevrolet in Liberty, Bates County Memorial hospital in Butler, and a Toyota dealership in Enid. All as a bookkeeper. Her last bookkeeping job was for Allen’s insurance company IDM.
In her spare time, Rita enjoyed making homemade jelly, watching TV and playing BINGO. She loved singing and dancing. In their younger years, Rita and Allen enjoyed socializing and entertaining. When Rita and her siblings got together they would sing and harmonize together at Christmas gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, daughter Elaine Hoeltzel, granddaughter Laura Hoeltzel and six siblings.
Survivors include her children; Jeff (Paula) Hayden of Albuquerque, NM, Cathy Wright of Butler, MO and Mark (Deborah) Hayden of Bella Vista, AK, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one sister Dorothy Heckert-Falls. Along with other family and friends.
