Roger Barker

Roger Allen Barker age 74 of Paola, KS died Thursday August 17, 2023 at his home.

Roger was born June 25, 1949 in Osawatomie, KS. Son of Robert Dean and Dorothy Maxine (Conrad) Barker. He attended Osawatomie High School, graduating with the class of 1967. On January 21, 1968, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy. He was active during the Vietnam War. Roger was in the reserves until being honorably discharged in 1974.

After being discharged, Roger worked for Southwest Grease & Oil Company in shipping and receiving. He then worked for Continental Containers as a maintenance operator, then Page Construction and Gateway Plastic Company. In 1989, Roger went to work at Best Foods until he retired in 2014.

On June 21, 2002, Roger married Vickie Sue Diaz in Paola, KS. The couple established his home in Bucyrus, KS. He gained three daughters, Brandy, Gina and Jennifer.

In his free time, Roger enjoyed getting his grandchildren and taking them to car shows, fishing and eating junk food. He loved the Kansas City Chief’s and went to the preseason trainings. Roger enjoyed music festivals. He attended Wood Stock, along with many other concerts. Roger attended Mike Purkey Church of Lenexa, KS. He never met a stranger and made friends with people and animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Vickie of the home, daughters; Brandy Conrad of Paola, KS, Gina Lowry of Olathe, KS and Jennifer (Joe) Gouker of Paola, KS. Sister Debbie Wilson of Osawatomie, KS, grandchildren Khaleesi, Azariah, Joseph and Jaxson. Nieces Jayme & Lindy. Along with other family and friends.
