Ruth Elizabeth Bolling age 98 of Garnett, KS formerly of Osawatomie, KS died Monday January 25, 2021 at Parkview Heights Nursing Home in Garnett, KS.

Ruth was born June 16, 1922 in Nashua, MO. She was second of four children born to Callie Raymond and Kester Mae (Barnes) Porter. She grew up in Miami County where she attended Paola High School.

On October 15, 1939, Ruth married Leslie D. Bolling in Mound City, KS. Together they had two daughters Beulah Christine and Leslie Joan. They made their home in Osawatomie.

In 1949, Ruth went to work for the Osawatomie State Hospital where she  worked as a Psychiatric aide. Ruth worked for OSH for 35 years, retiring in 1984.

In her free time, Ruth quilted and made clothing for her children and grandchildren. Ruth and Leslie raised grey hound dogs and leased them to race tracks. They also square danced. Ruth was a wonderful cook. She liked to drive  her Volkswagon Bugs and liked to drive fast. She was the best  granny. She helped to raise two of her granddaughters, Doris and Norma. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW in Paola.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, daughter B. Christine Smith, her parents, brother Raymond Porter and sister Lucille Scherman.

Survivors include daughter Leslie Joan ( Jim) Feighner of Lane, KS, sister Doris Marie (Jerry) Elwood of Bucyrus, KS, six grandchildren Lisa (Lenn) Blaylock, Theresa (David) Meyer, Kelly (Kathy) Feighner, Sue Feighner, Doris Johns and Norma Raper, six great grandchildren Ashley Meyer, Jody (Chris) Smith, David (Tiffany) Meyer Jr, Lyndsi (Jimmy) Fermyn, Jason Johns and Mathew (Lacey) Johns and 12 great great grandchildren with one on the way. Along with other family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
