Sharen Croan age 78 of Paola, KS died Friday August 10, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House.

Sharen was born August 27, 1939 in Osawatomie, KS to Jerry Spears and Hazel Morene (Murry) Wood. She had two younger brothers Tony and Scott. Sharen attended school in Osawatomie.

Sharen and Don Croan were united in marriage in Garnett, KS.  Together the couple raised three children Gerri, Terri and Brian. Don, Sharen and their family made their home in Miami County.  Sharen stayed at home until her children were in school. She also helped to raise her brother Scott. He lived with Don and Sharen while he was growing up.

Then in 1977, Sharen started working for King Radio. She started on the pace line and worked her way up to Quality Assurance. She retired in 2001 as a Quality Assurance. Sharen then went to work for the Osawatomie School District in the Food service department. She started as a substitute and then became Lead Cook and then transferred to the Snack Bar at the High School. Sharen also worked for the Osawatomie Golf Course for a short time.

Sharen loved to gamble. She would travel to Las Vegas every year to gamble. Her favorite was the slot machines. Sharen would travel with her sister-in-law, who was more like a sister to Sharen, Faye Katzer.  Sharen liked to shop, collect purses and shoes.  Her favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was known for her cooking around holiday time.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Brother Tony Wood.

Survivors include husband Don of the home, Son Brian Croan also of the home, two daughters Gerri (Herb) Byard of Osawatomie, KS and Terri (William Bunch) Croan of Indian Wells, CA, two grandchildren, Jay (Jamie) Byard and Deann Byard and two great grandchildren Devon and Calin Campbell. Along with other family and friends.
