Sharon Lynn Davey

August 9, 1950 — May 6, 2024

Sharon Lynn (Byers) Davey, 73 year old resident of Osawatomie, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 6, 2024 in Olathe, Kansas.

Sharon was born on August 9, 1950 to Harry L. and Velma (Clark) Byers. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1968.

Sharon married the love of her life, Dennis Davey on May 27, 1972 at the Baptist church in Osawatomie. She worked for forty-three years as a secretary for Osawatomie Public Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beverly Byers, brothers Larry Byers and Donnie Byers, and brother-in-law Larry Fox. Survivors include her husband, Dennis, sister, Alberta Fox, sisters-in-law, Deanna Byers and Patsy Byers, step-siblings, Jim Stainbrook (Diane), Tom Stainbrook, Gary Stainbrook (Pam), and Sandra Tepesch (Bill).

While never having children of her own, she leaves many nieces and nephews she considered to be her and Dennis’ children. Those left with many fond memories of Aunt Sharon are: Mike Byers (Dana), Lisa Highsmith (Kyle), Wendy Eaton (Jim), Lori Enyart (Charlie), Tom Byers (Tana), Jason Fox (Wendi), Jeremy Fox, Christy Alexander (Simon), and Jennie Jennings (John). Great nieces and nephews Nick, Natalie, Dylan, Gage, Sydney, Caden, Lane, Connor, Nathan, Carson, Makinley, Ethan, Dain, Tyson, Maddie, London, Evelyn, and Knox. Great-Great niece and nephews, Harper, Hollis, and Heston.

Sharon was truly one of a kind, and her absence will leave a void in all our lives. Her heart was big and many were blessed to be considered her friend. Her cookie making skills were legendary and she loved to share them with others. She was a professional shopper and found many “deals” for her family and friends. She loved to go to estate sales with Dennis and many of her prized possessions came from those outings.

Her sense of style and grace made her the epitome of a classy lady. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Her laughter was infectious and she was a fantastic story teller. She was a great dancer and the center of attention at a party. Her strength and resilience over the last few years were awe-inspiring. Her determination and courage were a shining example to us all.

She fought to the very end displaying a toughness that will forever inspire us. We will miss her terribly, but look forward to the day where we will all be reunited again.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Osawatomie Alumni Scholarship Fund or the Olathe Hospice House.
