Shirley Crozier Thomas went to be with her Lord on July 1, 2024. She was born in Coffeyville, on July 3, 1938, to Clifford R. and Doris (Pearson) Crozier.
She grew up in Osawatomie with the Class of 1956. She married Harold Leroy Kolosik on March 15, 1956. They became the parents of two children: Kathryn Brakeville and Thomas Kolosik. She was a homemaker until the kids were ofschool age. She was a wonderful mother and friend. She spent many nights making Halloween Costumes and Easter clothing! She then went to work for BEHM and Taylor Forge.
On July 5, 1985, she married Fred O. Thomas. They made their home in Lane. They enjoyed many years together traveling to power plants as Fred was a boilermaker for General Electric. Fred would oversee the crews and Shirley took care of the paperwork, payroll and anything else that would come up! She was a hard worker and always willing to help.
Shirley enjoyed quilting with her friends, gardening and flowers. She was a member of the Lane United Methodist Church. Her joy was working with the children in the church sponsored “Kids Club”. Many of the kids would return in later years to say “Hello”! She and Fred were active in the Lane Fair. She and her friend, Marcia, spent many days in her kitchen breading those famous “Lane Fair Tenderloins”! Fred predeceased her in 2009.
Fate brought Shirley friendship with Bill Coffelt in 2013. Both having lost spouses, they enjoyed each other’s companionship, especially the trip to Hawaii with family! They cooked supper together and continued their love of God through Church and Bible Studies.
