Stephen Eugene Sutton.....Age 67

Stephen Eugene Sutton age 67 of Paola, KS died Thursday October 21, 2021 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.

Stephen was born February 20,1954 in Santa Clara, CA. He was the third of four children born to George Stephen and Virginia (Prill) Sutton.

In 1971, Stephen enlisted into the United States Coast Guard for three years. He was honorably discharged in 1974.

Stephen married Laurie Ann Etier in 1972 in Wisconsin. To this marriage came two children Nicole Gene and Stephen Eugene II. The family lived in Minnesota, California, Milwaukee and Camdenton, MO. The marriage later ended in divorce.

After getting out of the military, Stephen became a locksmith. While in Camdenton, he was active as a volunteer firefighter. Stephen later moved to California and then to Eugene, OR before moving to Paola in 2017.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed going to church at Vineyard of Hope and then going out to eat with his family. In his younger days, he loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bernard G. Sutton, two sisters Linda R. Hiatt and Violet J. Sweeney and grandson Austin P. Waters.

Survivors include his daughter Nicole Schoor of Pleasanton, KS, son Stephen Sutton II of Forest Grove, OR, two grand children Tyler T. Waters and Isabelle A. Waters. Along with his family of Vineyard of Hope.
