Susan Katherine Dudley, age 57 of Osawatomie, KS died Thursday March 8, 2018.
Sue was born April 5, 1960 in Herington, KS. She was the fourth of five children born to William Walter & Helen Verene (Ruppel) Utech. Sue graduated with the Herington High School Class of 1978.
After high school, Sue attended Emporia State University where she majored in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in Special Education and was a Chi Omega. Philip and Sue’s adventures together began at ESU and they were united in marriage on July 23, 1983 in Herington, Kansas. Together during their 34 years of marriage they raised three amazing daughters, Alicia, Anna and Alison in Osawatomie, KS.
Sue stayed home with her daughters until they went to school, she then began her teaching career with the Osawatomie School District. She was a Special Education teacher at West School, East School and State Hospital George York School. Sue then semi-retired from teaching, but couldn’t stay away from the classroom so she returned to substitute for USD 367 and other area schools.
Sue cherished time with family and friends, singing and traveling. She loved visiting with her grandchildren, grand dogs and grand cats. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was involved with the boards and councils. She was a sponsor for the Sub Debs, as well as, a Girl Scout troop leader. Sue and Phil enjoyed supporting and following their daughter’s academic and athletic endeavors.
She was preceded in death by her father William. She, along with her husband Phil, entered into eternal life on March 8th, 2018.
Survivors include her daughters Alicia (Nicholas) Vaughan of Overland Park, KS, Anna (Joel) Hanson of Emporia, KS and Alison (Bradley Smith) Dudley of Lawrence, KS, Grandchildren, Sydney and Sawyer Hanson, 5 granddogs and 2 grandcats. Her mother Helen Utech of Herington, KS. Four Brothers, Jon (Marlene) Utech of Manhattan, KS, Daniel Utech of Solomon, KS, Tim (Tonya) Utech of Herington, KS and David (Linda) Utech of Weatherford, TX. Along with many other family and friends.
