Teresa Lee Read

Teresa Lee Read age 80 of Paola, KS died Friday August 30, 2024 at Homestead of Olathe.

Teresa was born February 23, 1944 in Divide, Colorado. She was the youngest of three born to Loren Lee and Gladys Fern(Bishop) Parmley. Teresa grew up in Colorado where she attended and graduated from Woodland Park High School.

On October 15, 1962, Teresa and Robert Warren Read were united in marriage in Ventura, CA. Together the couple had four children; Carrie, Annie,Dan and Patty. They traveled with the military for a number of years. Then landed in Osawatomie in 1979. While in Osawatomie, Teresa worked for Mi’ Lady’s Hair salon. Then in the early 90’s, Teresa and Robert moved to Louisburg. They went to work for Road Runner Trucking Company being over the road truck drivers. In 2007, the couple moved to Paola.

In her free time, Teresa enjoyed sewing and Quilting. She was a member of quilter groups over the years. Teresa and Robert planted a garden and canned their vegetables from their garden. She was an avid baker and made the best homemade dinner rolls and cookies. Teresa’s favorite thing were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a past member of the First Christian church of Osawatomie.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Carrie Waln, her parents and two sisters; Mary Harp and Patricia Sullivan.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 63 years, Robert of the home, children; Annie (Scott) Surber of North Carolina, Dan(Denise) Read of Missouri and Patty(Travis) Cutshaw of Kansas. Ten grandchildren; Emily, Chad, Mallory, Kenzi, Cole, Tanner, Steffi, Brandon, Calli, and Morgan. Also survived by 13 great grandchildren and other family and friends.
