Velda Lee Ralston age 96 of Lane, KS died Tuesday June 18, 2019 at Residential Living Care in Garnett, KS.

Velda Lee was born June 25, 1922 in South Miami County, Kansas on the family homestead. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Jesse Oscar and Lula Catherine (Cole) Ellis. She grew up in Linn County. She attended school in Liberty District 49 and graduated from Parker High School with the Class of 1940.

On September 23, 1939, Velda Lee and Hershel Walter Ralston were united in marriage in Nevada, MO. Together they had one daughter Jo Lene.

Velda Lee lived in Miami and Linn county most of her life. She was a member of the Friends Spring Grove Church and the Osa-Lane Stitchers. Velda Lee was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening and then canning the vegetables from her garden. She loved to travel to Texas, Washington and Branson, MO. Along with her hobbies, Velda Lee kept a very clean home and enjoyed cleaning.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Lula Ellis, husband Hershel Walter Ralston, grandson Daniel Eugene Johnston and Cousin Wilma Jean Bartlett.

Survivors include daughter Jo Lene Thoele of Rantoul, KS, sister Karen Jean Register of Greeley, KS, Grandchildren Maria Mashelle Hastert and Henry William (Theresa Ann) Thoele, seven great grandchildren; Jace Ryan, Adam Eugene, Ryan Keith Hastert, Dustin Wayne, Nicole Lea, Clint Walter Johnston and Heather Lee Thoele, and seven great great grandchildren Kayla, Ella, Logan, Grady, Kane, Grant and Avery Hastert. Along with other family and friends.
