Virginia Jo Hampton age 76 of Parker, KS died Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Healthcare Resort of Olathe.

Jo was born March 16, 1945 in Ottawa, KS. She was 2 of 3 children born to Donald Dale and Barbara Jean (Adams) Meeker. She grew up in Ottawa, KS graduating with the Ottawa High School Class of 1963.

After graduation in 1963, Jo and John Lloyd Hampton were united in marriage in Ottawa, KS. They became the parents to two children John and Julie.

Jo was a seamstress by trade. She worked at Mode-O-Day at both Osawatomie and Ottawa locations. She also worked at King Louie and Gear Athletic in Paola. Jo then went to work for a local credit union until she retired in the mid 90’s.

In her spare time, Jo quilted and sewed. She grew a garden and canned. Jo loved going shopping with her friends. She was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church and at one time she was the Union President for King Louie

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and granddaughter Alexis Hampton.

Survivors include children John Hampton and wife Kathryn, of Lawrence, KS, and Julie Overton of Lane, KS.  Four Grandchildren, Rachael Hampton, Rebecca Hampton, Bralen Bowker and Lexi Bowker.  Her sister Donna Nickell of Osawatomie. Along with other family and many friends.
