William A. ”Bill” Whitaker age 77 of Stover, MO died September 1, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Bill was born November 22, 1941 in Paola, KS. He was the third of seven kids born to Walter B. and Mary M. (Groh) Whitaker. He grew up on a farm in the Miami County area. Graduating from Louisburg High school.
On June 25, 1967, Bill and Shirley Landers were united in marriage in Osawatomie, KS. To this union came four daughters, Donna, Nancy, Vickie and April.
After high school, Bill went in the work force. He was a jack of all trades. Bill worked at various places over the years. He started at Phillip 66, then to Coop in both Paola and Osawatomie. Then was a guard at KCP&L and then built trucks for R&O. The family then moved to Missouri where Bill worked at KFC and Lake Regional Hospital as a floor tech. Then his last place he worked was at Country Mart in Branson, MO.
Bill loved to hang-out with his family, friends and grandkids. Family was everything to him, he loved telling stories of the fast cars he and his brothers had and the mischief they would get into. Bill loved to fish and would go at every opportunity. If he wasn’t fishing, he was watching Spongebob cartoons. Bill always had a fishing story to tell along with the occasional “tall tale”. Bill loved to tease everyone around and play pranks to keep people smiling. He was always willing to help anyone he could. Bill was a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Walter Vincent Whitaker, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and two nephews.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Shirley of the home, daughters Donna Peacor (Tom), Nancy (Victor) Allwine, Vickie (Stan) Witten and April (John) Estep. Brothers Edwin Whitaker, Jerry (Cathy) Whitaker, sisters Mary Willis, Betty Robinson and Rose (Bruce) Cassida. Grandchildren Brandi (Todd) Peacor, Ruben Razo, Brittany LaRock-Simpson, Robert "Bubba" (Holley) Peacor, Sabrina Razo, Elizabeth Witten, Haylee Goodrich, Lucy Witten, Lisa Allwine and Brandon (Steph) Allwine, Seventeen great grandchildren. Along with other family and friends.
